Manual Motor Control
Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer offers a complete line of IEC and traditional NEMA Manual Motor Control style Drum Switches, Manual Motor Switches, Starters, Protectors, Combination Motor Controllers.
The IEC devices are used in applications from single to multi-motor as well as combination starters and circuit breakers in some countries. The traditional NEMA style devices are available as a manual switch only or with overload protection. The reversing drum switches are an excellent way to accomplish manual control for reversing applications.
Many of the traditional NEMA devices are rated for both AC and DC applications.
Drum Switches
- 9441H Drum Switches
These drum switches are designed primarily for use with single-phase and squirrel cage, single-speed reversible motors which may be connected directly across-the-line. Typical applications would be hoists and machine tools.
Manual Motor Control
- B230 & B330 Manual Motor Switch
Manual Motor Switches are available in two- or three-pole configurations and rated at 30A. They are not equipped overload protection. An optional NEMA 1 aluminum enclosure is supplied with a padlock guard for locking in the OFF or STOP position.
- MS Manual Motor Starter
The MS Motor Starter is a compact, versatile unit featuring heavy sliding contacts as well as "quick-make" and "quick-break" mechanism. It comes standard with large pressure type terminals, straight-through wiring and a trip-free handle mechanism. The "plug-in" heater element is keyed to ensure proper positioning and an adjustable knob allows a setting of plus or minus ten percent of the nominal heater rating.
- B100 Manual Motor Starters
The B100 Manual Motor Starters can be used in single-phase applications rated 3 hp at 240V AC or 2 hp at 230V DC. The starter can also be rated for three-phase applications up to 10 hp at 600V AC.
Starters and Protectors
XT Manual Motor Protector (MMP)
Included in the XT Line of IEC Power Control are XTPB pushbutton (up to 25A) and XTPR rotary (up to 63A) actuated Manual Motor Protectors, accessories, and enclosures.
XT Manual Motor Controllers (MMC)
Rated to both IEC and UL standards, the XT Manual Motor Controller (MMC) is available as an open non-reversing or reversing device. The XT MMC uses a mechanical and electrical connection element to combine a Manual Motor Protector (MMP) with a contactor.
- A302 is a 3-phase Starter and Protector
The A302 is a 3-phase manual motor starter and protector with an adjustable bimetallic Class 10 thermal over-load and instantaneous magnetic short circuit trip mechanism. A302 starters are UL listed and CSA certified for group installations of motors and single motor installations up to 25 FLA. These manual starters can be field wired for single-phase motor applications by connecting 2 of the 3 poles in series.
Combination Motor Controller
XT Combination Motor Controllers (CMC)
Rated to both IEC and UL standards, the XT Combination Motor Controller (CMC) is available as an open non-reversing or reversing device. The XT CMC uses the same principle as the MMC, but it comes standard with a Line Side Adapter to meet UL 508 Type E/F requirements for line side spacing, creepage and insulation in applications without an in-the-panel short circuit protective device.
- A307, A308 and A309 Combination Motor Controllers
The A307, A308 and A309 family of Manual Motor Starters and Protectors feature a rotary ON/OFF manual disconnect, Class 10 adjustable bimetallic overload relay and fixed magnetic short circuit trip capability in one compact unit. Three frame sizes are avail- able: A307 (45 mm) for motors with FLA ratings up to 25A, A308 (55 mm) covers motor FLA ratings up to 50A and the A309 (70 mm) is suitable for motor FLA ratings to 100A.
- AE317, AM317, AE318, and AE319 Combination Motor Controllers
The new AE317, AM317, AE318, and AE319 IEC Open Non-reversing Combination Controllers combine a Manual Motor Protector with an IEC Contactor to provide a complete motor protection solution by combining motor disconnect function, thermal overload protection, magnetic short circuit protection and remote control operation in one compact, assembled unit. These assembled Combination Controllers cover motors with FLA ratings from .11A to 100A.
